A Personalized Gift Box for Men

Don’t put men in a box. We’ll do it for you. Espy Boxes are filled with premium products from both renowned brands and hidden gems. Each box is carefully curated based on the gift receiver’s individual lifestyle, habits, and preferences. 

We’ve been entrusted with the full Creative Direction and branding for this business. Our objective was to create a luxury brand that stands out from other gift box companies, but is also self-aware and taps into the humor behind the problem this business solves: Men are hard to shop for. 

LOGO DESIGN

Our goal for this logo was to create something that felt upscale but also spoke to the idea of discovering (or unboxing) new brands and products that he’ll love. The negative space in the logo conveys mystery and surprise, and transforms the letters into their own shape and design, perfect for packaging.

 

Brand Board

After exploring and selecting a custom Color Palette, Typography, and Imagery/Photography Guidelines, we included all of these into a convenient Brand Board for easy reference anytime we needed Visual Identity information quickly.

Package DESIGN

Because the presentation of this box was equally important as the contents within it, we wanted to create something that could stand alone without the need for gift wrapping. After exploring many options, we chose to flood the box with the signature blue and keep the logo in white for maximum visual impact.

WEBSITE DESIGN

The website is the hub for all Espy information. User Experience is at the forefront of this design. This is where customers will take the questionnaire to begin the gift box curation process, house information (what it is, who’s behind it, how it works, etc), and share testimonials and social proof. This is still in progress, as the product lineup, partnerships, etc. are constantly evolving. Check out the website here!

We worked closely alongside the founder of Espy to ensure that viewers would be able to learn more about the business in bite size videos and also interact directly with the business. Encouraging sharing of the unboxing, seeking feedback on what products should also be included (especially smaller businesses), and answering frequently asked questions (from the founder himself) encourages engagement and highlights what Espy stands for: premium quality products from beloved brands (both big and small!) curated to the gift receiver’s interests, lifestyle, and preferences.

Product Photography

It was important to showcase the products featured within the box in a way that incorporated the Espy branding, especially for social media feeds and quick scrolling. Shooting against blue backdrops helped achieve this, with additional elements sprinkled in to remind viewers that these are part of a gift box.
